Safe Water Network

Safe Water Network

Safe Water Network is using the power of enterprise to improve how the global water sector supplies safe, affordable, reliable water. We envision a world with healthy, thriving communities, each managing its own sustainable supply of safe water. We develop and demonstrate sustainable small water enterprises (SWEs) at credible scale, build the evidence base for SWEs as a priority solution to address growing safe water demand, and mainstream the model by working with governments, global development agencies, implementers, and the private sector.

Organization Mission

Safe Water Network's mission is to advance the SWE proposition to ensure millions gain access to safe, affordable, reliable water supply. Working in hundreds of small town and peri-urban communities in Ghana and India, we're demonstrating the affordability, effectiveness, and sustainability of the enterprise approach. Through the implementation of SWEs, we are demonstrating that the model has potential for financial viability, and critical to identifying shortfalls and gaps in achieving full viability, modeling financial impacts of operational improvements. As we expand our foot print in the field to demonstrate SWEs at scale, we are refining and standardizing the tools, resources, and training needed to cost-efficiently and sustainably replicate SWEs. Through rigorous data collection and analysis, we are improving our understanding of community and consumer demand. Finally, through policy engagement, hybrid funding models, and public-private partnership structures, we are working with governments, global development policy and finance institutions, and other sector stakeholders to overcome systemic challenges to scaling up SWEs in order to meet growing demand for safe, affordable, and reliable water and improve the health and livelihoods of millions of people around the world.
